Pres. Gerald Ford dead at 93

by unelected, do you mean other than VP's? cuz there was at least 3 or 4 other guys that weren't elected as pres that got the job.

on a related note, I was going to post this but I didn't feel like researching any accompanying information besides the headline.

He was never elected as Pres or V Pres. He was picked by Nixon because the elected V.P., Agnew, resigned for taking brides in his White House office.

He was the first President that I remember when I was young...(I know I know, I'm a fossil LOL)

Rest in piece Pres. Ford

Um.. I dont recall any good NOR bad done by this "Ford" character. So I have no thoughts either way. Anyone care to expound the virtuous character and cunning feats he performed while elected?

I could easily wiki it, sure.. but I want actual memories; not a biography and thorough list. ;)

* an interesting note about this:
Right in the thick of the Vietnam era, and just as Watergate was starting to chip away at the White House, a former President passed away at the ripe age of 88. Harry Truman also was thrust suddenly into the presidency in 1945
after the death of Franklin Roosevelt. And also like Ford, his passing came at a time of war & political unrest ; he too was seen as a reminder of a simpler time (relatively).
And Harry Truman died --- December 26, 1972-- 34 years to the day before Gerald Ford.

Some things make you go hmmm....:(

These things always happen in threes. James Brown, Ford...Who's next?

Already is three, check my thread here KFD. You US might not have know Charlie Drake well, but he was one of the biggest names in entertainment for a long time in the UK.

Even though he never wanted to be Pres or was elected. I think he did a great job for the two and a half years he was in the white house. After all he had to repair all the damage from Watergate. Both in the US and abroad, he laid a lot of foundations to other things too. In a way he started to make America into the power it is today after lots of countries was laughing at it.

R.I.P Gerald Ford, you did a great job when called upon and was reward with a good long life
